Ritz History: The Puttin' on the Ritz Theater is listed in the National Historic Registry. Originally a vaudeville theater, the Ritz was constructed in 1927 in the Classical Revival style, the Ritz was a popular downtown cinema before it went into a period of decline in the 1970s when it became a venue for adult movies. When videocassettes became more popular, it spelled the end for many adult theaters, including the Ritz, which closed two decades ago. A performing arts group rented the facility in 1986. This landmark theater retains its original ticket booth and marquee as well as Neoclassical-style murals in the auditorium. Now a popular adult and children’s theater venue, the theater company purchased the building in 2003 and entertains 70,000 patrons annually.

These sketches show the areas of the theater where spirit activity was noted. This is only an approximation as map is not to scale.

	In this photo, you can see one of two infrared cameras attached to a seat. These were hooked up to monitors in the lobby of the theater. This photo was taken by Investigator Palagruto at about the same time she and several Ritz employees observed increased activity in this area on the monitor.
	This photo was taken by Investigator Palagruto at the same time Investigator McAvenia stated that he felt that someone was in front of him and then immediately was behind him.
	Investigator Williams said he felt the presence of a man with a mustache standing close to him on the stage and asked others to take photos toward where he was sitting. This photo was taken by Investigator Nilsen at this time.

	This photo was taken with a 35mm camera by Jo Wilkins when an anomalous EMF reading was recorded. Investigator Wilkins choose 35mm film over digital to reduce the possibility of false positive photos due to dust.

EVP's

Applause (click to listen) - Cheers can be heard here however none of the investigators and none of the ritz staff cheered for anything. The recorder was at the top of the steps in the second floor. Two investigators were near the recorder and everyone else was downstairs on the first floor in the theater.
