About the house

Built in 1683 and occupied up to 1950, the Caleb Pusey House is the oldest continuously standing building in southeastern Pennsylvania.  Caleb Pusey, whose real last name was Bartholomew, was a personal friend of William Penn.  He came to the Landingford Plantation at the request of Penn to build and run a mill along the Chester Creek.  This mill would provide lumber to the "First Purchasers" (people who, for religious reasons, escaped Europe to start over in the New World).

Pusey ran the mill until 1717 when he and his family moved to East Marlborough Township.  The house was then occupied from 1792 - 1845 by the Flower family.  After that the house and mill was sold to John Price Crozer, one of the industrial barons of the Christian Revitalist movement.  Crozer built a wall around the house and moved the African-American midwife of the community , Mother Jones, into the house where she lived there with her family for the next 60 years.

The house was occupied by many different families after the Crozers left the area.  In 1950 a group of Quaker women lead by Josephine Albrecht attempted to restore the house to it's original look.  Tours are available on weekends through the Friends of the Caleb Pusey House, Inc.

Investigator Nilsen captured this picture of multiple orbs when Investigator Palagruto sensed a presence in the next room. Investigator Nilsen took this shot of multiple orbs on the 2nd floor of the log cabin where 2 different investigators sensed sickness independently of each other.

Our Findings
The Caleb Pusey House actually consists of three different buildings which were investigated by PIPR.  They were the School House, The Caleb Pusey House, and the log cabin.  Of the three the log cabin seemed to be the most active by our investigators.  Two different investigators sensed sickness upstairs, independently of each other, with one being completely overwhelmed and needed to be brought out of the building.  At the Caled Pusey House, Investigator Williams sensed Revolutionary War Soldiers outside by the front door.

Physical evidence was modest with only 59 positive photos out of 618, roughly 9%, and there were no EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomena) or fluctuations of either temperature or electromagnetic field (EMF).

PIPR concludes that any paranormal activity at the site is residual (a non interactive haunting which is much like watching a video) and would like to thank the Friends of the Caleb Pusey House Inc. for their hospitality and cooperation.

PIPR is a not-for-profit group dedicated to comprehensive scientific investigations into claims of paranormal phenomena. We are an investigative and research team who provides help to individuals who believe that they may be the subject of a haunting in their home or other location.  In addition to taking photos and recording audio and video, we monitor and record changes in the temperature, humidity, and electromagnetic fields. Our findings are analyzed with the latest computer software and combine with the impressions of our intuitive investigators to give you the best explanation of what is occurring that we possibly can.
