History

USS Becuna conducted five wartime patrols with the U.S. Seventh Fleet. Becuna sank the 7500 ton freighter Nichiyoku Maru, two small coastal freighters, assisted USS Hawkbill with the sinking of the oiler Tokuwa Maru, and damaged another oiler. The submarine also served as a lifeguard for downed pilots and narrowly missed an attack on the battleship Yamato. Converted from her basic fleet boat configuration to a streamlined fast underwater submarine known as a GUPPY (Greater Underwater Propulsion Project) type 1A in 1951, Becuna served during the Korean War and Vietnam conflict in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Berthed at Penn\'s Landing in Philadelphia, the boat now serves as an educational resource and tourist attraction with the cruiser Olympia. USS Becuna is a National Historic Landmark.

We will post questionable photos as well as negative photos to show the ship. We are calling them questionable because orbs can be everywhere and they alone are not necessarily a sign of a haunting. We did not get any positive photos at the time the EVP was recorded.

becuna1jy.jpg (443046 bytes)This photo taken by Jean Young of  an orb in the control room at approximately 10:15 pm .  This could have possibly have been dust but this team did not get dust anywhere else in the submarine. This was a random shot and nothing special was noted at this point of the evening.

PIPR is a not-for-profit group dedicated to comprehensive scientific investigations into claims of paranormal phenomena. We are an investigative and research team who provides help to individuals who believe that they may be the subject of a haunting in their home or other location.  In addition to taking photos and recording audio and video, we monitor and record changes in the temperature, humidity, and electromagnetic fields. Our findings are analyzed with the latest computer software and combine with the impressions of our intuitive investigators to give you the best explanation of what is occurring that we possibly can.
